Arlington Antonio Santiago
Arlington is a passionate and proactive human rights advocate for economic justice and workers’ rights, running as the federal NDP candidate for Calgary McKnight. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, his journey to Calgary reflects resilience, hope, and the power of community. His family’s bakery became a neighbourhood hub, teaching him the value of hard work and solidarity. When it closed during the 2008 financial crisis, Arlington worked tirelessly to support his family while attending Francophone school, shaping his commitment to fairness, diversity and fighting for workers' economic self-determination.
Today, as a Calgary Airport screening officer, Arlington witnesses the struggles of working-class Canadians daily. He understands the weight of juggling multiple jobs to afford basics like food and housing. Arlington is dedicated to dismantling barriers—skyrocketing costs, stagnant wages, and the housing crisis—that make life unaffordable for all of us. Arlington is a compassionate, community-focused leader who understands and fights for the needs of everyday Canadians.
As Vice-President of Nadia’s Hope, a local charity combatting domestic violence, Arlington empowers survivors with dedication and advocates for self-determination, dignity, respect, and security. He believes new Canadians and the working class are the backbone of Canada’s economy and communities, deserving respect, fairness and economic opportunity.
Arlington is stepping up to champion working families, protect human rights, and build a future where no one is left behind. While others prioritize corporate profits, he stands with everyday Canadians, celebrating diversity and fighting for equity. Join Arlington in creating a Canada where everyone, regardless of background or income, has the chance to thrive. Together, we can build a future rooted in dignity, hope, and economic justice.
